All beams and their connections were designed so that construction was quickly and easily carried out on site, minimising cost and OH & S risk The environmental efficiency of the members helped the building to achieve the 2005 RAIA Award for sustainable architecture, and the 2005 Property Council Award (Retail Category). The Property Council judges made particular mention of the timber structure in their comments.

An added advantage was the timber structure enabled the strong colour of the retailer (Coles Red) was able to be displayed in a stain, which conveyed the colour and the natural grains of the timber members. This contributed to a warmer, more natural environment for customers to shop.
