The Herald Sun Home Gardener edition on the 14th November 2009 featured a stunning photograph of an ecoBarnStudio which was sold to Phil Johnson and build on his Olinda property. This image shows the ecoBarnStudio cladded with colorbond with an ecoBarn6 extension as a beautiful and functional building which blends magnificently with its surrounds.

NEW PRODUCTS: ecoBarn

“Not your typical shed” is an ecobarn catch phrase that reflects the unique entry of a timber based shed building system into the farm building market.

Developed by Timberbuilt in Dandenong, this bolted portal frame system is fully prefabricated and ready for assembly. Being timber based it is lightweight and the simplicity of the design is not beyond the reach of the reasonably handy for installation.

Termite protected Hyspan H2s, laminated veneer lumber (LVL) is used for its structural integrity and uniformity yet still provides the feel and warmth of traditional timber. “If the strength of reaction to ecobarn we have experienced at field day displays is any indication, there are a lot of people out there who simply prefer wood to other materials” says Timberbuilt Managing Director and ecoBarn designer, Bruce Hutchings.

ecoBarn literature also points to the environmental benefits of building in timber. Using wood in structures not only locks carbon up for the life of the structure but also encourages the planting of more trees that help clean up greenhouse gas emissions.

An ecoBarn shed may well be worth looking into. Prices for ecoBarn7.7 start at around $4000 for frame only.
