This unique structure for South Hedland Townsquare in Western Australia is the latest challenge for our design and fabrication team. As part of the town square’s revitalisation project, 8 individual curved members with smaller blocking members will form this shade structure’s “grid-shell”.

The structure provides a shade canopy over a performance stage/area, and will act as a focal point in the square.

The curved members converge at each end of the structure creating a significant canopy with a minimal footprint. The use of timbers gives the environmental benefit of carbon storage in a structure that will also have architectural beauty in the community space.

This project is still in design phase – but watch this space, more images to come as we progress!
